Zumbro focuses its mission efforts on six primary mission partners. As a congregation, these organizations are supported in three specific ways: financial support, hands-on serving opportunities, and sharing stories about the organization. The goal is that the knowledge and relationship with these organizations deepen and an even greater difference in the world can be made together.
Six Primary Mission Partners
Channel One serves as a regional food bank and food shelf for Rochester and the surrounding area. Our various food and fund drives help Channel One serve 3,700 families each month.
Family Promise of Rochester exists to help homeless families with children under the age of sixteen achieve and sustain their independence by providing them with food, shelter at area faith communities, and a caring environment while they are in crisis. Family Promise also provides a counselor for families and limited transitional housing.
Good Earth Village is an outdoor ministry of the church seeking to make a difference in the world by raising up strong Christian leaders. Through summer camp and year round programming, Good Earth Village’s mission is to explore God in creation, grow faith in community, and engage the world as followers of Jesus.
Iambi Lutheran Hospital
Iambi Lutheran Hospital is our international mission partner. Nestled in the middle of Nkungi Village in Tanzania, Iambi serves the local and surrounding villagers in the name of Jesus. Their mission boldly states: “We treat but God heals.” Zumbro’s partnership with Iambi is a part of the SE MN Synod’s partnership with the Central Diocese of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania.
Lutheran Social Service (LSS) of MN is grounded in two principles – God loves all people without condition and God yearns for us to love the neighbor. Local LSS programs include Ways to Give and LINK.
Over forty years ago Zumbro was one of seven area churches that came together to form Samaritan Bethany, a faith-based organization that provides a variety of living and care options for seniors. Today we actively support this care facility through representation on the board of directors, providing auxiliary volunteers, and assisting residents to church on Sunday mornings.
