Stories from the Border, a three-part webinar series highlighting the Southeastern Minnesota Synod’s ministry of AMMPARO (Accompanying Migrant Minors through Partnership, Advocacy, Representation and Opportunities) presented beginning August 24th. In this virtual gathering of
people across the SEMN Synod, you will hear powerful stories based on synod members’ interactions with asylum seekers, judges, business leaders, and border patrol agents who live and work in the U.S./Mexico borderlands. Current immigration policy and enforcement including its impact on both refugee children and U.S. residents will be shared by an ELCA lay leader who, for over a dozen years, has engaged in border ministry simply to ‘mitigate the suffering of people.’ You will also discover local community resources that can enhance your ministry as you encounter any of the 5,800 undocumented people living within our local southeastern Minnesota
