Pastor Vern will be leading a zoom Bible Study on the Gospel of Luke in January and early February.
We are reading Luke during Sunday worship from Advent through Easter. Our Bible Study will provide an overview of some of the main themes in Luke and explain a little more about the background. It will focus especially on passages that won’t be used in worship. Luke is regularly referred to as the most universal gospel, with room for Jews, Samaritans, Gentiles, and lots of other people too. That means there is room for you! There’s no extra knowledge of the Bible required to join in. The class will meet on Thursdays at 9:30am from January 7 – February 11.
In an era where freedom often is interpreted as individual freedoms, we’ll explore one of Martin Luther’s most widely read treatises to probe into what Christian freedom looks like.
We’ll unpack the paradox of Christians being “perfectly free lord of all, subject to none” and “dutiful servant to all, subject to all.” We’ll also discuss what Luther’s understanding of Christian freedom means for how we live as disciples of Jesus today. Join Pastor Jason and retired pastor Paul Baker for this six-week online class starting, Wednesday, January 6 at 7pm.
