Ash Wednesday begins the season of Lent, a season that draws us to the cross, and God’s redeeming love in Jesus. Lent is a time that we turn to God. We confess our sins that separate us from God and from the beloved community we are called into as Christians. On this day we mark each other with the sign of the cross and remember our mortality. There will be a couple of different ways to participate in Ash Wednesday and begin this season here at Zumbro.
Ashes-to-Go in the Zumbro Parking Lot – 6:30-7:30am, 9:30-10:30am, noon-1pm, 4:30-6:00pm
Drive through the parking lot for a brief litany of Imposition of Ashes and Holy Communion, all from your car.
While you are here for Ashes-to-Go, you can pick up a Lent-in-a-Bag, which will daily provide spiritual practices that you can do at home all through the season of Lent. Additional bags will be available to be picked up outside Door 8 on the West side of the building later in the week. Daily practices will also be posted online and on social media.
Livestreamed Worship – 6:15pm
In addition to, or for those unable to make it to Ashes-to-Go, a 40-minute streamed worship will be available on our website and YouTube. You will be invited during the service to participate in communion and use oil to make the sign of the cross on your forehead during the Imposition of Ashes.
