Open Table Intern – Summer 2021

Open Table is honored to continue to serve the Rochester, MN community in summer 2021 on Thursdays. Open Table will, again, be hiring a young adult intern to support the work of volunteers and the ministry team for the summer months.
Open Table Mission: Open Table is a mobile food truck ministry in partnership between Zumbro Lutheran Church and People of Hope Lutheran Church. All are welcome. Anyone who desires a free meal is welcome. Our meal consists of a hearty burrito, fruit cups, and cookie. Turkey, rice, beans, corn salsa, and cheese are options for burrito filling. Fruit cups and Channel One donations of fruit, cheese, yogurt, and other foods are available to take home and may vary from week to week.
Job Description
• Approximately 10 weeks  (approx. June 3-Aug 12-some flexibility is available to accommodate school and work
• Approx. 6-8 hours per week, Thursday afternoons and evenings and 2-3 special day events based throughout the
• Reports to Dir. of Mission and supported by Youth and Young Adult Minister and Open Table Food Manager.
• $800 Stipend/summer
• Kitchen Team Lead and oversight of kitchen volunteers including some food prep, cleaning, and food logistics.
• Team Lead on the truck including overseeing volunteers, distributing meals, and interacting with guests.
• Support Open Table team and Staff with telling the story of the mission and furthering the mission and vision of
the ministry. This which may include attending team meetings, special events, staff meetings, and assisting with
communication needs (as directed by the Director of Mission and Open Table team)
• Attend a mid-summer and end of internship reflection meeting.
• Complete and pass the online Child Protection and SafeServ Food Safety trainings
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
• A young adult (with at least a high school diploma with a preference of at least one year of college and/or gap
year work)seeking a learning and serving leadership experience in a progressive Christian church setting.
• Highly adaptable, able to multi-task, comfortable interacting and leading with a diverse group of people, able to
demonstrate self-direction, teachable and a servant-leader spirit are needed skills in this position.
• Experience working with food prep and/or diverse communities is a bonus.
• No church affiliation required. The position is open to people of any faith (or no faith) commitment.
• Multilingual Candidates (Spanish or Somali) are especially encouraged to apply.
