Dear Friends of Zumbro,
The Delta variant is cause for concern. It has spread quickly and is proving to be easily transmissible. The CDC and the Minnesota Department of Health are now classifying Olmsted Country as having “substantial community transmission.” Much as we’ve enjoyed relaxing some of our safety protocols of late, this means we need to get our guard back up.
Beginning the first week of August, we at Zumbro will follow CDC guidelines in requiring that everyone wear a face covering indoors, even if they are fully vaccinated. This applies to:
1) Worship on Sundays and Wednesdays
2) Large groups and small groups
3) Zumbro staff, except within one’s own office.
4) People that are coming and going within the building.
Undoubtedly there will be exceptions. For the sake of hearing, preachers and worship leaders will not be masked. Masks will need to be removed during communion. Some will not get the message. Others may come for funerals from outside the community. And still others may simply not want to wear a mask.
We will do our best to honor and respect our differences, but please know that we strongly encourage you to approach others with care and respect. We have already had some break-through cases among fully vaccinated people at Zumbro. Thankfully their cases have been mild.
In my more positive moments, I look at these new restrictions this way: we’re on the home stretch! More and more people are getting vaccinated. We’re going to get through this. And one fine day, life will be back to normal again.
In the strong name of Jesus,
