At Zumbo we believe that faith is a life-long journey, so it isn’t surprising that ministry here begins at birth and continues throughout all the twists and turns of life as we experience it every day. For children and their families, we have opportunities to share our lives of faith together every step of the way.
Please contact Janette Reeves to be placed on the Children and Family weekly email list to hear all about our most current events.
Children in Worship
Children are welcome in worship at Zumbro! While we do provide a free, professionally staffed nursery during most worship services, we encourage families to worship together. Whole-heartedly believing that this shared experience helps to build a strong family foundation, we also understand that there are challenges for children in worship. We have some resources in place that will hopefully create a positive worship experience for everyone!
Rainbow Bags are filled with quiet, engaging activities for our youngest worshippers. Available to pick up outside the sanctuary.
Storytime is included in both Sunday morning services. This is a time for children to come forward and hear the Good News of Jesus in creative ways. It’s actually not just for the kids … adults enjoy it too!
Storytime+plus+ happens after Storytime at the 10:30am service. Kids through grade 3 are invited to join Janette Reeves for a more in-depth experience outside the sanctuary while their parents listen to the sermon … really listen! It’s a win-win for everyone!
Birth to 2-years-old
B2 Parents – This group of parents with young children meets twice a month during the Faith Formation hour on Sunday mornings. While their children are being cared for by our trained professional nursery staff, the parents gather in a quiet space to share the joys (and challenges) of parenting, study God’s Word, and pray together.
Faith Formation Our Faith Formation program area is for students in preschool-grade 6.
Our sweet preschoolers (ages 3, 4 & 5) meet in a traditional Sunday School setting on Sunday mornings led by parent and youth volunteers. There are bible stories, crafts, prayer, and music in a safe and loving environment, making this a great introduction to Faith Formation.
Kindergarten – 6 grade students meet in small groups on Sunday mornings and Wednesday nights. We also offer intergenerational service events, faith milestone family discussions, and fun activities that encourage stronger relationships with Jesus and each other. In this COVID 19 pandemic season, we are offering weekly online Faith Formation lessons using Group Publishing’s “Simply Loved” curriculum. Family Minister, Janette Reeves, supplies weekly videos to guide families through the lessons and tell the bible story. Awesome music and bible memorization bring more variety and fun into each week.
Summer Ministry at Zumbro
VBS will look a little different this summer but all the favorite parts will still be there: music, crafts, creative Bible storytelling, games, and more! VBS+plus+ will NOT be happening in the same way as years past but there will be service projects included in this summer’s VBS program. Being the hands and feet of Jesus in this world is still a priority, and one that our kids and youth need to participate in from an early age!
