Children and Family Ministry

At Zumbo we believe that faith is a life-long journey, so it shouldn’t be surprising that ministry here begins at birth and continues throughout all the twists and turns of everyday life. Children and their families have opportunities to share their lives of faith together every step of the way.

Children in Worship
Children are welcome in worship at Zumbro! While we do provide a free, professionally staffed nursery during most worship services, we encourage families to worship together. Whole-heartedly believing that this shared experience helps to build a strong family foundation, we also understand that there are challenges for children in worship. We have resources in place that will hopefully create a positive worship experience for everyone!

Rainbow Bags are filled with quiet, engaging activities for our youngest worshippers. Available to pick up outside the sanctuary.

Storytime is included during both Sunday morning services. This is a time for children to hear the Good News of Jesus in creative ways. Actually … it’s not just for the kids … adults enjoy it too!

Storytime+plus+ will resume in September during 10:30am Sunday morning worship. Following Storytime, children age 3 through grade 2 are invited to accompany Janette Reeves outside the sanctuary for an age-appropriate learning experience while their parents listen to the sermon … really listen! It’s a win-win for everyone!

Nursery care will be provided starting in September 2021 during Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 10:30am and during the Faith Formation hour between services. Our beautiful nursery space is staffed by paid adults and youth who love young children and love Jesus! It is a clean, safe environment that is offered for families who need it.

Children’s Faith Formation Our Children’s Faith Formation program includes students in preschool-grade 6.

Sunday mornings:

Our sweet preschoolers (ages 3, 4 & 5) meet in a traditional Sunday School setting on Sunday mornings led by parent and youth volunteers. There are bible stories, crafts, prayer, and music in a safe and loving environment, making this a great introduction to Faith Formation. Starts September 12th.

Kindergarten – 6th grade students will experience a Rotation model for Sunday morning Faith Formation this Fall. Focusing on one Bible story for 4 weeks in a row may seem too repetitive until you realize each week is different, hands-on fun! Rotations will include cooking, art, media, music, creative Bible storytelling and more! Volunteers are needed to lead each rotation and shepherd the age groups. Starts September 12th.

Wednesday nights:

JOYFUL NOISE! 7:05 – 7:40pm, PreK – 2nd grade

Following Wednesday worship, this musical faith formation class will be offered for preK through 2nd graders. JOYFUL NOISE! will include bible stories, songs, simple instruments, and movement for kids and their parents to enjoy together! From 7:05 – 7:40pm we will make joyful noises together and learn about Jesus and music too. Starts September 8th.

BE BOLD! 7:05 – 7:55pm, 3rd – 6thgrade

Following Wednesday Worship, 3rd – 6th graders will look at sticky situations and challenging questions with caring adults and the Bible as their guide. “What’s the point of going to church?” ”Does God care about how I use my time?” ”How can I forgive when I don’t feel like it?” Not every question has an answer but wrestling with the tough stuff builds faith and relationships. Starts September 8th.
