Dear People of Zumbro, 1) We had a delightful outdoor worship service on Sunday, July 12. We were grateful for the cool temperatures and dry weather. Close to 90 people joined us for the service. On this day in 1865 – the year that Zumbro was formed – the last slaves in America were set free. Confederate soldiers had surrendered in April of 1865 but word didn’t reach the last enslaved Black people until June 19, when Union soldiers brought the news of freedom… 1) We had some great fun this past Thursday night. About 20 cars, including several convertibles, showed up. We were going in parade to the homes of our high school graduates. To cover all the graduates, we had three different parade routes.
